The problem
Public sector organisations are under pressure to deliver better digital services with tighter budgets. Many still rely on legacy infrastructure that is costly to maintain, difficult to change and increasingly hard to secure.
Moving to the cloud offers clear benefits, but each organisation often has to solve the same problems from scratch: meeting security and assurance requirements, handling sensitive data appropriately, controlling costs and building the skills to run a modern platform.
What we are building
We are designing a reusable, secure cloud platform that gives public sector teams a trusted foundation to build and run services on. Key elements include:
- Secure-by-design landing zones aligned with the NCSC Cloud Security Principles and Government Security Classifications
- Zero Trust access controls built around strong identity, device health and least-privilege access
- Policy as code so security and compliance guardrails are applied automatically and consistently
- Built-in observability covering performance, security events and cost
- Reusable patterns for common service components, helping teams deliver new services faster and more consistently
- Cost governance with clear reporting so spend can be tracked against outcomes
The platform is being shaped around the Government Service Standard and a strong emphasis on user needs, accessibility and open standards.
Where we are now
Delivery is in progress. The core architecture and security controls have been designed and reviewed, and we are building and testing the foundational components, including identity integration, network design and automated guardrails.
